Art Lesson Ideas
Goal: by the end of the project, students will have created a symmetrical collage and be able to explain what shapes they used and the placement that makes it symmetrical.
Objectives: Students will be able to use tools such as scissors, construction paper, and glue to create Matisse inspired collages.
Students will be able to verbally explain the concept of symmetry using full sentences.
Description: Students will fold a construction paper in half and cut shapes using their scissors. The shapes will be identical since the paper is folded, then students are required to glue the pieces symmetrically on a large blank sheet. This connects to math concept of symmetry and geometric shapes.
Materials: Construction paper, Glue, Scissors, Large white paper

I was unsure of how this was going to go. Before I knew it, I had a Matisse inspired cutout that resembled the New Orleans Saints football logo.
The blue border reminded me of the sea.
